USE FISH OIL LIQUID TO MAKE THE BEST-EVER CAESAR SALAD

Any salad with croutons and cheese on top is a win in our book! That's why we LOVE a good Caesar salad. And this brilliant little hack is going to make your next one even more delicious. Here's how to use canned fish oil liquid to take your salads up a notch.

Toss a can of tuna (liquid included) in your food processor to make a quick paste. Pour in a bowl and mix with two gloves of diced garlic, two tablespoons of lemon juice, one cup of mayonnaise, and 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan. Whisk to combine, then pour over your salad, adding cheese and croutons on top.

This salad would make the perfect side for our slow cooker lasagna or Instant Pot Chicken Alfredo. Any chance we can come over for dinner?!

Is tuna oil healthy? With its omega-3s, tuna oil is also somewhat beneficial for: mental cognition, hair and skin health, emotional balance, weight loss, and eye health.

TREAT YOUR PUP

If you have a dog, you know how dang hard it is to get them to eat their meds. We've tried hiding them in peanut butter and every other trick in the book, but this little hack is brilliant!

Add your dog's food to their bowl, then hide that medicine in the mix. This last step is the most important! Pour a healthy heap of canned fish oil on top. That smell will have them running and begging for more. This tip actually works well for cat owners, too!

That fish oil is also perfect for a little dog treat! Instead of spending a ton on canned food, just wet their dry food with that fish oil. You're already buying the tuna for yourself, so it's a win-win and HUGE money-saver.

MAKE A TUNA PASTA SALAD

Here's a way to use that whole dang can of tuna (or salmon). Use the liquid fish oil in place of a dressing or olive oil. Just boil your favorite noodle and get to mixing! Here are some ingredients we love to include in our tuna pasta salad:

  • Feta Cheese
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Black Olives
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Diced Onion

Boil the noodles, combine with the other ingredients, and then pop in the fridge for an hour or two before serving! It's a great weekday lunch option and SO cheap to make. Use whatever you have available, you shelf cooking maven, you!

USE LEFTOVER FISH OIL FOR FRYING

Fish fry, anyone?! Instead of frying up that tilapia or shrimp in cooking or olive oil, use your canned fish liquid. The flavor will WOW you.

And we haven't tried this ourselves, but there are ladies on social media who swear by frying their eggs in leftover fish oil, too. Supposedly, the flavor is ridiculous, and the edges of the egg get nice and crispy. It's worth a try, right?

Pro Tip: Adding black olives to your pasta salad? Be sure to save your olive juice, too. You can use it in marinades, sauces, and more.

USE YOUR FISH OIL TO MAKE A BREAD DIP

PSA: if you haven't tried our rustic bread recipe yet, you totally should! Even if you don't like baking, you'll LOVE this recipe. And after you make that bread, we've got the perfect dipping sauce for you to try!

Just mix your leftover fish oil with some freshly squeezed lemon juice and whatever herbs you have on hand. We like adding basil and rosemary, but there's no wrong way to do this.

Combine everything, stir a few times, and serve on a small plate or in a bowl for dipping. It's a lot like that addictive dip they serve at the Italian restaurants. Yum!

Now you'll know what to do the next time you open a can of fish. There's no need to toss that liquid goodness down the drain, so spread the word. Friends don't let friends waste food!
