While the oven preheats, remove the crust from your bread, and break each slice into bite-sized pieces. Using a food processor, blend your bread into crumbs.
Place crumbs on a lined baking sheet, and allow them to bake for around 8 minutes, or until dry, flipping halfway through.
Allow your panko bread crumbs to cool, then store in an airtight container.
While we typically use loaf bread to make our panko, you can use leftover Italian bread, too. Just be sure to remove the crust. Want to add some flavor to your panko? You can season your crumbs with the herbs and spices of your choice before baking.
