Ingredients
2cupold fashioned oats
1cupsliced almonds
1½cupRice Krispies
4tbspbutter
⅔cuphoney
¼cupbrown sugar
1½tspvanilla
pinch of salt
1½cupadd-ins of your choice we used ½ cup each of unsweetened coconut, banana chips, and chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F
Toss together the old-fashioned oats and sliced almonds. Place on a rimmed baking sheet and toast until golden, about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt together the butter, honey, and brown sugar. Stir in vanilla and salt, set aside.
In a large bowl, mix your add-ins, rice puffs, and toasted mixture. The pour-over sugar mix and stir well. If using chocolate chips, let cool 10 minutes before adding.
Line a 13×9 inch pan with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray. Pour granola bar mixture into the pan. Spray a second piece of parchment lightly with cooking spray and lay over the top, spray side down. Press the granola mixture into the pan well, using your hand or the back of a measuring cup. Take your time on this step; it keeps any granola bar recipe from crumbling when cut.
Bake for 25 minutes and then allow to cool for 2 hours before cutting.
Notes
New to making granola bars? Pressing in is the most important step. Regardless of the recipe, they need to be well packed into the pan to turn out well.
